Part of the Concepts in Social Thought series, Lyon’s work is often used as a collegiate text. Lyon reveals how postmodernity not only calls into question many of the key ideas of the modern world, but actually works to undermine them. Lyon focuses on technology and consumerism as his primary windows into the postmodern.

This was one of the early, and still best, books on postmodern thought. Sane, balanced; though over ten years old, it’s insights have stood the test of time.
